Well, certainly the longer braces are on, the worse it is for the teeth because of decay, gum problems, hygiene. So the quicker we can get done without compromising the end result, the best it is. So, traditionally, when you put braces on, you put the braces on, there always is a little bit of human error, so there's a little bit of human inefficiency. You put the braces on, you evaluate it, you got to take a step backwards. You go forwards, you take a little step back, you go forward, and with suresmile, we can usually treat in 25 to 30% less time.
What we do is we start the same way that you do conventionally, get to a certain point, and that's a skill set that the orthodontist has to have to determine when to go into the technology, and then from that point, we can predict where we want to get to at the end. So basically, with a computer, the advantage is if you know where you are and you know where you want to get to, the computer can connect the dots, and that's what the wire, a robot actually bends the wire to get from point A to point B so from that standpoint, it's a tremendous difference.
Also, with this technique, we're able to do braces behind the teeth called lingual braces, which is technically extremely difficult and the reason for that is when you're working on a circle—when you put braces on the outside of the teeth, you're on a bigger circle. When you're inside the teeth, you're on a smaller circle. Just from a basic physics point, the wire between the braces, the longer the wire, the more flexible it is. So when you're on an inside smaller circle, you have less deviation or less margin of error and most people are not able to do that. But with the suresmile, again, virtually we have that precision to do it to the best that is possible out there and we take pride in feeling that our treatment with the technology and just the dedication of the staff and the doctors, no one's going to get better treatment than they're going to get here. I can say that unequivocally.
In our office, we use the latest technology to attain the best results. As we like to say: Amazing things can happen when technology meets experience. One of the most amazing dental developments in recent years is suresmile®, a system that uses robotics to attain precisely straightened teeth in a shorter time than conventional braces. We have since treated over 10,000 patients with this revolutionary technology.

An Orthodontic Option That Offers Many Advantages
The suresmile method produces more precise results than that of conventional braces. Our south Florida orthodontists will use sophisticated 3D software to plan your treatment. Then a robot, which is far more meticulous than any human, will bend the wires used for your treatment. Due to the robot’s precision, your smile will look exactly as planned.
Other advantages include:
- Shorter treatment time. Several independent studies have found that suresmile treatment times are, on average, 33 percent faster than treatment times with conventional braces.
- Fewer wire changes. Many braces wearers dislike adjustments, a sometimes tedious process in which your orthodontist uses pliers to bend the wires on your braces. With suresmile, a robot bends the wire. And we use a nickel titanium wire that “remembers” the shape. It’s activated by your body temperature when placed into your mouth. So adjustments are quicker and easier – and you’ll need fewer of them.
Our Orthodontist Is an Old Hand at New suresmile Technology
Suresmile Wire Bending Robot Conventional braces have been around for hundreds of years. Archaeologists have even found what appear to be metal bands wrapped around the teeth of mummies. While some 250,000 patients have received suresmile treatment in the past 17 years, it is obviously a much more recent orthodontic development.
You probably know someone who has worn conventional braces but may not know anyone who has used suresmile. It can be exciting – but also a bit nerve-wracking – to use a newer type of orthodontia. Good thing we’ve got an acknowledged suresmile expert in Dr. Peter Wohlgemuth, who has served on suresmile’s clinical advisory board. We’ve improved more than 10,000 smiles with suresmile in our Boca Raton, FL or Coral Springs, FL orthodontist office.
Both of our dentists are active members of professional organizations like American Association of Orthodontists, Florida Association of Orthodontists and American Dental Association, to name a few.
