No One Will Know You’re Straightening Teeth with Lingual Braces
Our Boca Raton, FL and Coral Springs, FL orthodontists offer several ways of straightening teeth that are more cosmetically appealing than conventional braces. One of the least conspicuous options is lingual braces. Because we attach wires and brackets to the back side of your teeth instead of the front side, no one will even know you’re wearing them. They’re even less noticeable than clear ceramic braces or Invisalign.Dr. Rothstein on lingual braces Read Transcript
The lingual braces really all come down to ... it's an aesthetic option is really the name of the game here. Braces are interesting in that you can do a lot of things. You can do lingual on top and outside on the bottom for certain reasons and you can use things a lot of different ways. But the major reason for lingual is when people don't want people to know that they have braces on, whether it be their job, whether they be an adult and they just really don't want people to know. That's something that they value. And with lingual braces, now we use them with SureSmile and so we digitally plan those cases always. And it's a really—it’s a really neat process. It's just, again, another tool that we use that can help 'em get to where they need to be in a way that they wanna get there.

Lingual Braces Are Unique to the User
Lingual braces are completely customized. Unlike conventional braces, which typically use stock parts, these are custom fabricated. In addition, we attach the brackets of lingual braces to your teeth all at once rather than individually. We can use suresmile® technology with your lingual braces, which straightens teeth about a third faster than conventional braces.
It can be used to correct the same kinds of orthodontic problems as conventional braces, including:
- Open bites
- Gaps and spaces
Compliance Not an Issue with Lingual Braces
Another popular and inconspicuous option for straightening teeth is Invisalign®, which uses clear plastic aligners instead of wires and brackets to do the job. But one of Invisalign’s benefits is also a potential drawback. You can remove your aligners, which makes it easier to eat and to clean your teeth. But if you don’t wear your aligners at least 20-22 hours a day, you can lengthen your treatment. Since lingual braces can’t be removed, compliance isn’t an issue.
Not All Orthodontists Offer Lingual Braces
Because the pressure that moves your teeth into place occurs on the inside of your teeth rather than the outside, your orthodontist must understand the types of movement that will occur and how they may differ from conventional braces. Dr. Peter Wohlgemuth and Dr. Ira Rothstein pride themselves in offering a wide range of orthodontic services in our Boca Raton, FL and Coral Springs, FL orthodontist offices, including lingual braces. They use the latest technology for your treatment, including 3D imaging and digital tooth impressions.
Like our other services, a complimentary consultation is the first step in determining if lingual braces are the right choice for you. To schedule a consultation, call 561-327-6775 or use our online form.
